Visitors Leave Without Calling? How to Write Calls to Action That Work

Most visitors are not ready to buy on their first visit. Write calls to action that give them a small, easy next step instead of letting them leave.

Short answer: most visitors are not ready to call on their first visit, so "Contact us" alone loses them. Offer two steps: a clear main action for people who are ready, like "Get a quote on WhatsApp", and a softer one for people who are still deciding, like "See prices" or "Get the free checklist". Use plain words that say what happens next.

A visitor reads your service page, nods, and leaves. Not because they did not like you, but because the only option was "Contact us", and they were not ready to talk to a salesperson. A better call to action catches them at whatever stage they are in.

Why does "Contact us" perform so badly?

It is vague, and it feels like a commitment. The visitor does not know what will happen: a call, a sales pitch, an email they never get a reply to. Uncertainty makes people delay, and delay usually means never.

What makes a call to action work?

  • Say what happens: "Get a price on WhatsApp in 10 minutes" beats "Submit".
  • Lower the effort: one tap, few fields.
  • Lower the risk: "No obligation", "Free", "Takes 2 minutes".
  • Match the page: on a pricing page, "Book this package"; on a blog post, "See how we fix this".

What should you offer people who are not ready?

Give them a small, useful step that keeps you in their mind:

  • A price guide or brochure.
  • A free checklist related to their problem.
  • A quick question on WhatsApp, with "no sales pitch" stated.
  • A short quiz that recommends the right package.
  • An invitation to see examples of your work.

Where should calls to action go?

At the top of the page for people who already know what they want, after the key sections that build trust, and at the end. On mobile, a sticky call or WhatsApp button keeps the main action within reach.

What are some examples that work?

  • "Send us a photo of the damage on WhatsApp and get a price today."
  • "See our wedding packages and prices."
  • "Book a free 15-minute call."
  • "Get your free website check."

How do you know which one works best?

Track clicks on each button in Google Analytics, and change one thing at a time. Small wording changes can make a big difference.
